Vroon Offshore Services return to Zamakona with more orders
March 25th 2008
Vroon Offshore Services (VOS) have ordered an additional two field support vessels, with an option for a further two, for delivery in 2011. The order for the IMT 955L field support vessels has been placed with the Astilleros Zamakona Pasaia S.L. Shipyard in Spain. This latest order brings the total number of new-build IMT 955 field support vessels ordered from Zamakona to 15.
Five vessels have been delivered to date, with four deliveries in 2007 and one earlier this week. The remaining ten vessels are scheduled to become operational during the period 2008 to 2011.
All vessels provide both deck and under-deck cargo-carrying capacities, in addition to emergency response and rescue cover for multiple offshore installations, utilising their daughter craft and fast-rescue craft. All are powered by diesel electric-propulsion systems. VOS currently operates a fleet of approximately 100 offshore support vessels, operating from bases in Aberdeen in Scotland, Den Helder in The Netherlands, Genoa in Italy and Singapore, and has another 20 new-build vessels on order. The fleet includes conventional and multi-role ERRVs, platform supply, anchor handling, sub-sea support and utility vessels, operating principally in the North Sea, the Mediterranean and South East Asia.
